68 m conveyor gantry transported, cut, fitted and aligned in nine weeks for commissioning.
The challenge
A 68 m bulk-conveyor gantry had to be delivered to a working terminal, modified for a revised transfer-tower position, and erected between two towers with ±4 mm flange tolerance. Port crane bookings were fixed months ahead, sea-breeze windows were short, and the customs-adjacent laydown had limited hours.
Our approach
The gantry arrived in three transportable sections; we re-cut and fitted the end connections in the laydown to the revised survey, then erected in one continuous night operation with two cranes on a lift plan rehearsed on paper and on site. Alignment was taken by total station during the lift and bolted at temperature, with grouting of bearing plates the following morning. The client’s commissioning team was walked through bolt-tension records before handover.
The result
Nine weeks including the transport hold: 68 m erected with flanges within ±4 mm, first-pass alignment accepted by the conveyor vendor, zero lost-time incidents across 8,900 safe man-hours at a peak crew of 22.
