CASE STUDY

Ten-month utilities maintenance completed with 620 planned tasks closed and zero repeat defects.

The challenge

Utilities buildings — workshops, warehouses, control rooms and a generator house — in Yanbu needed a planned maintenance programme plus responsive repairs. Salt air corroded exposed steel fast and, as with all plant areas, every task needed permits and could not interrupt utilities serving the main units.

Our approach

We ran an initial defect hunt that found 74 items and cleared them in the first six weeks, then moved to a planned cycle: corrosion touch-ups with a specified coating system, AC servicing for control rooms on a tighter filter schedule, electrical thermography twice a year, and roof inspections after each weather event. Work was grouped by area so one permit covered a full day’s tasks, and 860 assets were tagged against a live register.

The result

Ten months, 620 planned tasks and 1,310 responsive jobs closed with zero repeat defects, zero lost-time incidents across 10,600 safe man-hours — and unplanned utilities callouts fell 40% year on year.
