CASE STUDY

148 t of built-up sections fabricated and erected in 12 weeks with 100% NDT acceptance.

The challenge

A 4,200 m² maintenance workshop was needed beside a live petrochemical complex. Deliveries could only use the shared gate between 22:00 and 05:00, third-party inspection was written into the specification, and the client’s tolerance for weld defects was zero.

Our approach

Plate girders and columns were jig-fitted and welded in our Madinah workshop by qualified welders to the approved procedure, with ultrasonic testing on 10% of full-penetration welds and mill certificates traced member by member. Loads were bundled in erection sequence and delivered through the night gate; a crew of fourteen erected behind a 60-tonne crane, and secondary steel — platforms, ladders and handrails — followed the frame in the same mobilisation.

The result

Handover after 12 weeks with 148 tonnes in place, every NDT and dimensional report accepted first time, and zero lost-time injuries across 11,400 safe man-hours. Rimal added Red Ocean to their approved fabricator list for the complex.
