CASE STUDY

1.3 km of road and 6,400 m² of yard paved in 12 weeks.

The challenge

A new food plant in Buraidah needed its yard roads, tanker turning circle and concrete loading bay before tankers started deliveries. Hygiene rules banned wash-water discharge to the storm drain, heavy tankers demanded a heavier pavement than the drawings showed, and the paving had to meet the food-grade traffic without smelling of fresh bitumen at commissioning.

Our approach

We thickened the pavement section to 250 mm reinforced concrete on the tanker route after checking actual axle loads, and set a separate wash-water interceptor connected to the trade effluent line instead of the storm drain. Asphalt sections for staff and light traffic used a low-odor grade laid at night to air out before commissioning, and all kerbs, markings and bollard bases were set out from the logistics turning template.

The result

Twelve weeks: 1.3 km road, 6,400 m² yard and the loading bay handed over with all pavement cores passing, interceptor commissioning witnessed by the consultant, zero lost-time injuries across 16,700 safe man-hours.
