1,460 m of lifeline across three roofs and 60 roof workers trained in six weeks.
The challenge
Roof plant access on three distribution warehouses relied on harnesses clipped to whatever a contractor could find. The client wanted permanent lifelines, self-retracting lines at every roof hatch, and a rescue capability their own staff could actually operate — before the summer maintenance season.
Our approach
An anchor layout was calculated for each roof against worst-case fall loads, with membrane-seam avoidance built in. Lifelines and hatch SRL points were installed by two crews working opposite roofs in parallel, and every anchor was tagged with its proof-load date. We then trained 60 of the client’s maintenance staff in harness inspection, hatch technique and two-person rescue raises, with written rescue plans posted at each access point.
The result
Six weeks from layout to training certificates: 1,460 m of lifeline, 22 hatch SRLs, 60 staff trained, zero lost-time incidents across 5,600 safe man-hours — and the client’s annual roof audit passed with zero findings.
Scope delivered
- Per-roof anchor load calculations
- Horizontal lifeline installation (1,460 m)
- Self-retracting lifelines at 22 roof hatches
- Proof-load tagging of every anchor
- Harness, hatch & rescue training for 60 staff
- Posted rescue plans at each access point
Our own team ran the rescue drill on the training day. That is what made the audit pass with zero findings.Warehouse HSE officer · Sahil Distribution
