210 t of open-deck car park steel erected in 14 weeks for 1,450 parking spaces.
The challenge
A four-level open-deck car park had to rise between two occupied office towers with a 9 m gap for the crane and no road closure permitted. Tolerance on beam seats was ±3 mm, and the deck had to be weathertight enough for topping works to start on the upper levels while steel was still going up below.
Our approach
Steel was fabricated to a lift-by-lift sequence in Madinah and delivered only two loads a day to the constrained gate. A luffing crane worked the 9 m slot with pre-assembled bay frames — columns, beams, bracing and guardrail posts bundled together — while a crew of fifteen bolted and plumed each level before releasing the next. Survey checks ran level by level rather than at the end.
The result
Fourteen weeks from first delivery to final survey: 210 tonnes erected, every beam seat within ±3 mm, zero lost-time injuries across 21,600 safe man-hours at a peak crew of 30, and topping works started on level four in week twelve as planned.
Scope delivered
- Lift-sequenced fabrication & delivery
- Columns, beams & bracing erected bay by bay
- Level-by-level survey checks (±3 mm seats)
- Guardrail & edge-protection posts installed
- Bolted connections tensioned to drawing
- Handover pack with mill certificates
Survey reports came in level by level — we never had to wait for an end-of-job check to trust the steel.Development manager · Dhiyab Holdings
