CASE STUDY

124 t of platform steel installed in 13 weeks to a C5-M marine coating specification.

The challenge

An assembly platform and two access towers on the quayside had to be built to a C5-M marine coating spec while the yard kept building hull sections alongside. Salt spray, 40 km/h coastal winds and coated-steel handling rules limited both crane time and how members could be slung.

Our approach

Members were blast-cleaned and coated to the full system in Madinah before dispatch, with damage touched up and re-checked at the quay. Erection ran in 13 weekly shifts around the yard’s build schedule, using slings on certified lifting points only, wind monitoring logged each shift, and a crew of eighteen bolting and bracing each platform section before the next moved in.

The result

Handover in 13 weeks with 124 tonnes installed, coating inspection passed at first attempt, zero lost-time injuries across 15,800 safe man-hours, and no weather-related crane stand-down beyond the planned allowance.
