2,240 m of lifeline and 58 anchors installed across five live roofs in eight weeks.
The challenge
Five process building roofs and a 140 m pipe-rack walkway needed permanent fall protection while units stayed live. Work had to fit inside short night windows, no hot work was permitted above running equipment, and anchor positions had to avoid roof membrane seams and buried services.
Our approach
Every roof was surveyed and anchor positions marked against a load-calculated layout before any drilling. Horizontal lifelines, ladder lifelines and guardrail runs were installed on staged night shifts by height-trained crews, with rescue plans rehearsed before the first shift and 100% tie-off enforced throughout. Each anchor was proof-loaded to 12 kN and tagged, with load calculations and certificates in the handover pack.
The result
Eight weeks from survey to certification: 2,240 m of lifeline, 58 anchors and 6 vertical ladder systems handed over with zero lost-time incidents across 7,400 safe man-hours. The contractor was added to the client’s approved height-safety list.
